The experience with GE Plastics, worldwide market leader in engineering thermoplastics , started in 1987, as a Market Development Specialist, a function in which new marketing programs form the European head quarters were introduced in several markets.
These sales supporting marketing programs concerned applications in all industries, except the automotive and business machine industries.
The responsibility for marketing and implementation of the new programs involved the Benelux, Scandinavia, Portugal, Africa, the Middle East and India. The marketing contacts with OEM’s, Producers and Plastic moulders were partly managed through agents and importers.
From 1988 the experience is broadened by a promotion to marketing programs manager for electrical and lighting applications, based at the European head quarters.
It concerns the development and implementation of new marketing programs, managing 10 European market development specialists.
In this period an intensive contact with the top of these European industries was developed and maintained.
The total responsibility involved 135 million Euro.
In this period this industry segment developed from a mature market into a market with a large growth potential, by initiating and introducing new revolutionary applications and alternatives for PVC.
Due to this success and I was awarded by an intensive education program, as well as the runner-up award for Marketing Man of the year, a foreign assignment and a participation in an annual special staff meeting in de US, for which annually 10 managers were selected. I represented Europe as well as marketing world wide.
